14U Boys earn 1st Provincial medal in a decade

This past weekend in Stony Plain, the Canada West 14U boys did something that hasn't been done in a decade, a provincial medal for our Canada West boys program!!

They finished their pool play with a 2-1 record, beating the top-ranked team in their pool along the way, SAS Valour, to secure a favourable crossover match vs NAVC.

They ended up winning their quarter-final match 2-0 vs NAVC setting up a semi-final against the Wolves from Grande Prairie.

After losing an absolute heartbreaker, 16-14 in the 3rd and deciding set in the semis, to the eventual gold medalists, they managed to regroup and easily won their last match of the season, earning their Bronze medal.  They ended up being the highest finishing team in all of Calgary and Edmonton.

They turned a lot of heads during the weekend as they were one of the smaller yet highly skilled teams.  The team showed continued improvement during the season finishing 7th, 5th and 3rd respectively in the 3 Volleyball Alberta tournaments.

Congratulations to coaches Jeff Wenzel and Mary-Lou van Geel and all the boys who left everything on the court this year.
