If this tournament is any indication, it looks to be a successful year

After training for 7 weeks, the Canada West girls teams were very excited about finally getting some official competition.  6 of our Canada West teams competed in the 2016 Rally Pointe Festival.  14U Girls Black, Blue and White, 15U Girls Blue and Black & our 16U Girls.

A few highlights of the hard fought weekend were:

The 15U Black team won their first 3 matches having never played a single match together, showcasing the skill development and decision making that they had been working on.  They missed out on advancing in the playoffs by a single point but are looking forward to the continued improvement.

The 15U Blue team competed well in every match and after a come-from-behind win vs. Elite, finished the tournament in 4th place.

Our 16U team was also playing their first tournament of the season and with a mostly new roster, spent a good part of the day learning each other's on court tendencies.  There was constant improvement with each match and they broke through at the end of the day by winning their last match.  They also have a Canmore tournament lined up to ensure they are ready for their first Volleyball Alberta Premier event this weekend.

Our 14U girls have been training as a group of 32 and split into 3 teams for the tournament.  Although they only had a couple of practices to get used to their tournament teammates, they blended well and had  a great day.  The Black team went undefeated, losing only 2 sets all day, and won the Gold medal vs Peak in 2 straight sets.  The Blue and White teams turned a few heads with their defence and tenacity and competed very well with both teams finishing in a tie for 5th overall of 12 teams in the event.

Well done ladies!!  Keep up the hard work.
